A broken foot or ankle is also known as a foot or ankle “fracture” and can involve one or more bones or joints. A fracture may not stop you from walking or can cause severe pain when bearing weight. Broken or fractured bones can cause instability in the joints, such as in the ankle joint, or damaged ligaments.
A broken foot or ankle can feel like a severe sprain, therefore we recommend that your injury should be evaluated by a physician.
Some common symptoms for a broken foot or ankle include:
- Immediate pain
- Tenderness when touching
- Inability to put weight on the foot or severe pain when standing on it
- A deformity or looking “out of place”
Dr. Radnay will evaluate your condition to determine the best plan of care and recovery.
