A Successful Ankle Replacement Surgery with this NY DoctorSubmit your Testimonial
On June 25, 2010 I was involved in a car accident resulting in a serious open ankle fracture.
Sparing you the gory details, suffice it to say I am lucky to have my foot. After 3 initial surgeries including 3 months in an external fixation device, and plates and screws I began the path to begin walking again. This process resulted in pain 24/7 as my ankle was riddled with traumatic arthritis and no cartilage between the bones. I almost always walked with a cane.
In January of 2011 my orthopedist suggested I seek the care of an ankle specialist who subsequently recommended an ankle fusion. I live in New Jersey and ankle replacements did not seem to be an offered option. Through a friends recommendation, I made an appointment with Dr. Radnay as my family and I wanted to explore all options available to me. At 58 years old I wasn’t ready to have such an irreversible surgery.
Dr. Radnay spent time with me and my family explaining both the fusion and the replacement. I left his office with a tentative surgery date for the replacement and a feeling that this was the option for me.
The ankle replacement surgery was performed on Feb. 16, 2012. Everything went according to the time table presented to me.
Fast forward 1 year and I am happy to report that I am quite pleased with my results. The cane is gone and although I have swelling at the end of the day, and experience some discomfort, I am in a far better place then before the surgery.
Dr. Radnay helped me get my old life back and I am grateful to him for that.
